RINA-LORENA REYES-MANUEL 89-B Diliman
|
At the end of the day...
Former Lady Chancellor Rina-Lorena
Reyes-Manuel has always been an exemplary Nuan. Academic excellence and leadership,
she graduated in 1993 with a double-degree course in
BS in Business Administration and Accountancy in just 5 years.
The Diliman Chapter flourished
during her term and even as an alumni, her active support and
participation is notable. |

Rina entered U.P. as a Valedictorian of St. Paul College of Paranaque (1988) and just after her first year in the university,
she became Head of the Education Committee of the UP Sandigan ng Mag-aaral para sa Sambayanan (1990-1991) and
the list of achievements just piled on top of the other:
- No. 1 Councilor, University Student Council-Diliman (1991-1992)
- Lady Chancellor, Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority (1992-1993)
- Certified Public Accountant (1993)
- Head, Tax Department, Smart Communications, Inc. (2008 - current):
started as one-woman tax team for Smart in 1996; currently the
department now consists of 12 employees and reports directly to the
Chief Financial Officer. Smart has been recognized as consistent top
taxpayer of the BIR Large Taxpayers Service in terms of the total amount
of taxes remitted to the Government. I'll forward to you a recent press
release with write-up for your reference.
- Married to Bong Manuel for nine years and a mother to 3 children
- Currently heading a taxpayers' right campaign that would ensure the
immediate and full
implementation of RA 9504, otherwise known as the Tax Relief Package
Law, which aims to benefit minimum wage earners and individual
taxpayers.
Rina also has affiliations with Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon, a Catholic
Renewal Community, since 2004, where she was introduced to Community life by Sis
Mae Ann Abrea-Hilario 91-A. She is also a member of the ADHD Society of the Phils., being a mother to
a child diagnosed with ADHD at 6.5 years old. Her inspiration right now is Debbie Phelps, mother of Olympian Michael
Phelps.
There is a limit to what one can do but there is absolutely no limit to what
can be accomplished in faith.
In her words, Sigma Alpha Nu "has thought me to excel in whatever
role I am in -- be it as a mother, a wife, a tax practitioner, a friend,
a sister or a child. I may not be the best in a particular field but I
always see to it that I give my very best every time. So that, at the
end of the day, I could tell myself and my Creator that I've lived my
life to the fullest by serving the purpose for which I was created."
